Pancake Day

“There is hardship in everything- except eating pancakes.”

Charles H. Spurgeon

The weather is warming up, and the days are getting longer, spring is on its way and Christmas with all its festivities seems a distant memory! After Christmas, the next big event in the Church calendar is Lent. The start of Lent is marked by Shrove Tuesday. Historically, people make pancakes on Shrove Tuesday to use up all of their eggs, butter, sugar and milk, which they would have been giving up over the period of Lent. Nowadays, people give up all kinds of things for lent- cake, crisps, chocolate, sweets….but the tradition of pancakes is still going strong. Here at St Martins Tea Lounge, we hope you can join us on Pancake Day, where we will be serving either lemon or chocolate pancakes for only £1.95! It would be great to see you there.
